From Apple Orchards to Silver Screens: Brunswick’s Mapleside Farms Enters a New Century of Growth

BRUNSWICK, OH- For almost a century, Brunswick’s Mapleside Farms has been a place where many families in Northeast Ohio hold their traditions. Mapleside, created in 1927 by the Eyssen family, was named after the many maple trees that the family tapped for their syrup. Today, the farm is owned by Greg and Kelley Clement, who in the 2000’s saved Mapleside from being turned into a residential area by opening it to the public as a venue for fun and festivals. The farm will celebrate its 100-year anniversary in 2027.
Located at 294 Pearl Rd, Brunswick, Mapleside Farms is best known today for its seasonal events and attractions, including Pumpkin Village, weddings, summer concerts, beautiful views, and for being one of Northeast Ohio’s favorite fall traditions. Many people of all ages hold memories at Mapleside. Children remember playing on the 311-foot super slide and the 70-foot jumping pillow, and others remember weddings, concerts, and the wine and beer walks.
One upcoming attraction is the Summer Concerts over the Valley series. This turns the farm into one of the most scenic live music venues in Northeast Ohio. The concerts begin June 12, and are every Friday night until August 28. During the concerts, guests enjoy great bands, food, and drinks, while experiencing amazing sunset views overlooking the valley. This atmosphere gives its visitors a fun and relaxed night, providing a much different experience than a typical concert venue could provide.
But, there’s a whole lot more to Mapleside than meets the eye. Recently, the Mapleside team has also expanded itself into documentary filmmaking. Owner Greg Clement, along with Mapleside filmmaker Galen Marten, are currently involved in the production of a unique documentary, called “Am I Happy?”, which explores happiness and the meaning behind it. The production of “Am I Happy?” began in April of 2025, and it is expected to be completed by the end of this year. “We will be submitting it to film festivals and having a world premiere close to home,” said Marten. “Then we will have to wait and see. Distribution can take a lot of different forms in the documentary world. We hope one day to be on Netflix or another streaming service.”
The production of this film will not occur exclusively at Mapleside. A large portion will take place along the Trans-American trail and the Continental Divide Trail, while also including Oberlin College, and parts of Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming. “This film came to pass because of one man's journey, Greg Clement,” explained Marten. “He was exploring a lot of ideas about happiness and success.
