Boyeas Brings Experience to Brunswick High School Varsity Football

BRUNSWICK, OH- In early 2026, Brunswick High School hired their fifteenth head varsity football coach, James Boyeas. Boyeas, who is excited to lead the Blue Devils, has coached for 20 years, including the last 11 at the high school level. Before coming to Brunswick, he coached at several schools, including North Olmsted, Lorain and Garfield Heights. He was attracted to Brunswick for its football tradition and strong community. “There’s a rich tradition of football. It’s a good school district,” Boyeas said.
Boyeas explained that his coaching style will focus on being fast, physical and disciplined, as shown throughout these first few games. He wants the team to be exciting to watch while making sure the players are prepared. “Ultimately, the biggest thing is that hopefully we look like we’re well-coached,” he said.
Boyeas also wants his players to grow both on and off the field. His goal is for players to look back on their four years and feel that “playing football for Brunswick High School was the best experience of their high school career.” He also plans to encourage players to focus on academics and participate in other sports.
For the season itself, Boyeas has set many goals for the team, including being prepared every week, beating Strongsville, winning the GCC, and hosting a home playoff game. He also hopes the community will continue to support the team throughout the season. As of September 27th, 2026, the team is 4-2 on the season.
Boyeas said he already feels at home in Brunswick and plans to stay for the long term. “I truly feel home here, and this is the place that I know that I’m going to end my teaching and coaching career,” he stated.
With a new coach and new goals, the Blue Devils are ready to continue taking on this football season.
