Katrina Morgan: Local Author Captures The Chaotic Family Disasters
By Rylee Perrin, BEAT reporter
BRUNSWICK, OH- Do you ever have chaotic disasters in your family? Katrina Morgan has many and instead of keeping the disasters in her mind she wrote them on paper. With love and support from her family she pursued her dreams. Morgan explained she got into writing by watching a talk show host called Oprah. Oprah talks about books and will bring the authors onto the show to discuss their books.
Morgan said the best place for her to write is early in the morning with a cup of coffee in her office. It also helps her when her cat is there in the office with peace and quiet. Morgan is an author from Westfield Center, Ohio, who writes about her family and a fiction book of someone else's family disaster. Morgan’s books range from “These Animals Are Killing Me”, which is about a year of her family's hysterical interruptions, while “Echoes in the Walls” is about her family transforming a pre-Civil war house they bought and all the disturbing things that happen. “There Was A Crooked Man” is a fictional horror tale that tells how a woman is married to a psycho and how she plans to escape this marriage while he chases her down.
Morgan stated she loves being an author because it opens up a creative part of her. She also loves teaching others to write. She teaches writing classes at local high schools and libraries and explained it is fun to talk about her career. Morgan said, “Writing is like a sport and you have to practice. Put aside the awful and keep going.”
