A Place to Play and Belong: Gamer’s Lair in Brunswick
By Cayton Blake, BEAT reporter
BRUNSWICK, OH- The Gamer’s Lair in Brunswick is a fun place where people can go to play video games and board games. It is a place where you can buy Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, 3D printed items, dice, and many more game-related items. You can even have a birthday gathering there.
Gamer’s Lair did not start out as Gamer’s Lair; it was originally a franchise called PLAYlive Nation that was located in Strongsville’s SouthPark Mall. The owners looked at many different locations until they found the perfect one: its current location, 1785 Pearl Rd, Brunswick. From their past experiences in SouthPark Mall, they took what they learned from PLAYlive nation. “We just built it to match our vision,” said Lana Bogusz, the owner of the Gamer’s Lair. The Gamer’s Lair has been open for a little over a year now with lots of success.
Bogusz went on to say, she loves “Watching kids and families and friends come in and have fun together and seeing people be able to be themselves and have fun.” At the end of the day, Bogusz just wants the Gamer’s Lair to feel welcoming and inclusive. “Our biggest goal for Gamer's Lair is to create a safe space for kids and adults to come and play,” she said. “Where they can be themselves and just have fun.”
